October is the time to think pink since it is breast cancer awareness month and the Catwalk for a Cure event at the Liberty Hotel in Boston during Boston Fashion Week did just that. There were hundreds of supporters for the Catwalk for a Cure show put on by Practically Broadway Inc. in junction with the Massachusetts Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

The first thing that amazed me about this new all electric sports car is how quiet the Roadster is: quiet and roadster have never been in the same sentence before that is until the development of the Tesla Roadster Sport S. Those attending the event for this test-drive session were press and prospective buyers and all agreed that the quietness of the car is just out of this world. Even Prius drivers sent envious glares at me in the Roadster as I was driving but maybe that was because of the look of the car or the fact that they could never keep up.

The Baltus Collection based in Marbella, Spain, is a hot new design company new to the United States. A.N. Abell will be auctioning pieces from from Castillo del Lago, a residence once owned by mobster Bugsy Siegel and later owned by Madonna. Some of these pieces include Venetian glass chandeliers, Italian chests, vessels and more. The auction will take place on Oct. 17 at 10 a.m., with an exhibition Oct. 13-16.

This week I attended the Chic at the W Hotel Boston during the Boston Fashion Week, a luxury fashion show featuring the fall/winter 2010 fur collection of Carmen Marc Valvo of New York City. Hosted by the “dress diva” Yolanda Celluci, the event benefited ovarian cancer research, awareness and patient programs via Ovations: for the cure of ovarian cancer.
