Gourmet Wine and Cheese Events at the Beverly Wilshire

There’s a new kind of Fondue Party in town. Norbert Wabnig, epic owner of The Cheese Store of Beverly Hills conducts gourmet show-and-tell sessions at the Four Seasons Beverly Wilshire Hotel.

Inside the historic property’s signature restaurant, The BLVD—home of the “Tiffany Blue” martini and a lavishly decorated dining room that constantly resonates with live piano tunes—Wabnig offers informal cheese and wine tasting tutorials Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings. By “informal” we mean no real instruction takes place; Wabnig simply crafts traditional made-to-order plates, chooses the appropriate garnishes, and selects a wine, while guests sit back and devour firm and creamy selections from around the world.

On Thursdays only, Wabnig woos guests with something a little more elaborate and hosts a Raclette party, a tradition straight from Switzerland. Describing it as, “reverse fondue,” the fromage guru goes to town on a wheel of imported Swiss cheese, melting it with a specially designed grill and serving it over colorful cauliflower florets and mini butterball potatoes. For the final touch, he pairs the heavenly cow’s milk creation with Burrata and charcuterie.

Because of its simple yet novel presentation, the time-honored culinary practice becomes a wonderful party idea and keeps die-hard cheese aficionados coming back for more. Therefore, be sure to make reservations in advance. Plates start at $20 per person and are offered from 6 p.m. to 8.pm.

The BLVD: 9500 Wilshire Blvd. (at Rodeo Dr.), 310.275.5200.

The Cheese Store of Beverly Hills: 419 N. Beverly Dr., 310.278.2855.
