Sugarcane Raw Bar Grill To Open Mid-January…We Think?

The ambitious Sugarcane Raw Bar Grill, which was supposed to open during Art Basel, now plans to make its debut January 15 serving up a unique blend of Japanese, Brazilian and Peruvian cuisine.

The 4,200-square-foot restaurant at 3250 N.E. First Ave. is going to be one busy place. Boasting three kitchens, one for cooking meats and one for everything else, a raw bar and indoor and outdoor bar, there’s nothing short of excitement at this new 305 hotspot.

The restaurant’s concept developer is Shimon Bokovza and Executive Chef, Timon Balloo of the late Domo Japones, will focus on a tapas-inspired menu incorporating predominantly Spanish and South American trends.

Design for the Sushi Samba offshoot, which has siblings in New York and Las Vegas where they are known as the Sugarcane Lounge, uses  “reclaimed woods, vintage and ‘found objects’ with graffiti art and modern design,” according to a press release. We’ll just wait to believe it until we see it.
