Marco Norma is a rare creative force who moves effortlessly between two sensory worlds. As a master hairstylist trained in the prestigious Rossano Ferretti Method and recognized as one of Florida’s finest, he has built his reputation on precision, personalization, and transformative beauty. Yet behind the chair, he’s also known as Palo Santo — the DJ whose deep house, progressive, and melodic electronic sets carry a soulful, immersive energy that has taken him from intimate Miami gatherings to iconic international venues in Ibiza, Tulum, and Portugal’s The Goat Community festival. In this interview, Marco opens up about how music has always fueled his creativity, the deep artistic parallels between sculpting hair and curating unforgettable musical journeys, and why passion and individuality remain the true foundations of both his crafts.

HAUTE LIVING: As a master hairstylist trained in the Rossano Ferretti Method and recognized among the best in Florida, you’ve built a reputation for transforming hair with precision and artistry. How does your creative process as a stylist compare to curating a DJ set as Palo Santo?
MARCO NORMA: I always had passion about music, my father was a musician and I’ve lived all my life surrounded by music, spending some quality time at home with huge sound equipments and many vinyl of any type of music from jazz to classic to rock and modern, I was very curios to check on my dad’s music collection, and I’ve being always a very social person related to fashion industry and international events into beauty and fashion, a certain point in my live I started naturally to realize that music was an important influence to me, for my happiness and inspirations, and under some important djs friend’s influence and support, I started to collect enough database of great music according to my taste, and upscale equipment and learned how to create mixes with y style, first for my salon in the chillout session and then for friend’s small reunions, and local small events, at certain point I was able to start beautiful parties in great local venues such Joia Beach and Gitanos, and thanks to my contacts accumulated over the year in Miami with my Hair career, and large amount of music and fashion followers and supporters, little by little during the last years I was able to enter big Venues, locally and internationally and Radio, like in Ibiza, Tulum and festivals around the world, the festival I am participating this year again for the 4th year is in Portugal “ The Goat Community” were my musical taste and vibe matches perfectly with the style of the event.
HL: Your work behind the chair is highly technical and personalized, while your DJ sets blend deep house, progressive, and melodic electronic music with soulful energy. In what ways do you see hair styling and DJing as two expressions of the same artistic impulse?
MN: They are both extraordinary expressions of art and good taste, beauty, and good vibe. I am lucky and proud to have chosen an artistic career since I was a kid (16th), which has given me a sensibility for all forms of art, allowed me to travel and open my mind, learn many languages, and meet extraordinary people.
HL: Both hairstyling and music are deeply sensory and emotional arts — one through touch and movement, the other through sound and rhythm. How do you draw inspiration from music when creating a hairstyle, or conversely, how does your eye for beauty and flow influence the way you build a DJ set?
MN: The connection is very strong, there are great artist in the music industry that creates soundtrack for movies I believe the music is a big part on a movie like it is for life and I always need in my daily artistic moments to listen to great playlist in order to get more inspired and to create a beautiful vibe in my own environment for my clients, staff and myself.
HL: Creativity is at the core of everything you do. How do you stay inspired?
MN: I inspire myself naturally, without any effort, just living my life, attending events, traveling and being part of festivals and wellness reunions. My music is not only selected for parties and clubs, but I also like to share the vibe in open spaces, creating Palo Santo. I’ve made an experience of Ibiza-Tulum-Mykonos mixed with the nature of the party islands.
HL: You’ve mastered two different art forms: sculpting hair for red-carpet and editorial looks, and creating immersive musical journeys for live audiences. What role do passion and artistic flow play in preventing burnout and keeping both your styling and DJing fresh and innovative?
MN: Burnout is prevented in any case just by doing something in life you like, loving what I do, everything comes naturally, and is also a big release the colored sensibility to music while managing a company and a big team, could be stressful sometimes dealing with situations and duties not related necessary to fashion and art, just ordinary routing will burnout more than mixing music and art together.
HL: Finally, what are some hair trends you’re loving right now? Favorite hair products for summer?
MN: People will always be inspired by trends, and there’s nothing wrong with that, but at Rossano Ferretti, we’ve always believed that the most beautiful hair is deeply personal. The clients who come to us are usually looking for something signature and unique to them rather than trying to replicate someone else’s style. In my opinion, that sense of individuality and natural beauty always has far more longevity and elegance.
Living in Miami, I see every day how much the sun, humidity, saltwater, and heat can affect hair condition, which is why I believe healthy hair is the foundation of any look. I often recommend the Dolce Nourishing Shampoo and Mask for lasting hydration and softness, especially after sun and ocean exposure. The Brilliant Protect & Shine Hair Oil is another essential because it helps protect hair from sun damage while enhancing its natural shine effortlessly.
