Murray’s Cheese to Open 50 New Stores

“Here, take a taste.” That’s the motto at Murray’s Cheese stores, and soon you’ll be hearing that phrase all over town as the provider of delicious cheeses plans to open 50 new locations over the next three years.

Long lines at Murray’s Cheese stores don’t seem to deter its loyal customers…most likely because they know what’s at the end of that line. Murray’s Cheese is the leading cheese monger in New York City providing customers with more cheese than even imaginable. The extremely popular store has just announced that New Yorkers will be able to get their hands on some of the finest cheese around a bit easier over the next three years—and with less lines—as they partner with grocer The Kroger Company, to open 50 branded Murray’s store-within-a-store locations.

The Kroger Company is the largest grocery retailer in the country with 2,470 stores in 31 states across the nation. With this new agreement, Murray’s will be expanding its market and embarking on a whole new level of cheese-retail.

Just a year and a half ago, Murray’s open pilot shops in three locations across Cincinnati which were extremely popular—a good indication that customer’s demand for fine cheese isn’t going anyway. Robert Kaufelt, president of Murray’s Cheese, said, “When the specialty cheese departments in those stores were replaced with Murray’s, sales rose 50 percent to 100 percent.” Kudos!

Murray’s Cheese sells a variety of American, English, French, Irish, Italian, Spanish, and Swiss Cheese, along with specialty foods such as cooked and cured meats; chocolates and confections; bread, crackers, and toast; fruit, nuts, and condiments; butter, oil, and vinegar; and olives and antipasto.
