Dining Tips: Las Vegas

Las Vegas: one of the most vibrant cities in the world and one of the few places where you can lose a lot of money just as fast as you can win a lot of money—depending on your luck.

Next time you’re over in the gambling capital of the world, scurry on over to some of Haute Living’s recommended eateries to satisfy just about any craving.

To start with, drop by Carnevino for a fantastic steak meal. Appropriately named (“carne” meaning meat), the kitchen here takes great pride in the preparation of their steaks. To ensure the enzymes break down the appropriate degree, the meat is shrunken and cured over time which results in the steak shrinking by 50% and attaining a protein-rich, ham-like consistency that will truly having you coming back for more.

For something a little more “traditionally Californian”, head over to the Wynn Hotel’s restaurant, Alex, where a casual vibe typical of California exudes from the decor all the way to the cuisine. As the ultimate one-stop-shop for amuses bouches, the Alex features dishes such as a jewel-red tuna tartar with d’espelette aioli, a veal sweetbread arancini, and perfectly balanced scallop soup with lemon oil. While the prices can be a bit steep, the food and atmosphere are certainly worth every penny.

If you’re in the mood for some Thai food, it’s likely that Las Vegas locals will direct you straight to the Lotus of Siam, located one mile from the Strip. Unpretentious with exceptionally well prepared cuisine, this restaurant will be one for the books. One of their more famous dishes includes a crispy skin incredibly-tender duck in curry sauce with cognac, and with prices as reasonable as they are at the Lotus of Siam, you’ll feel free to order as much as you like.
