Haute Top 5: Best Desserts in Atlanta in 2017
1 Murphy's
This neighborhood Virginia-Highland restaurant has a dessert menu that will sweep you off your feet. The Tollhouse Pie made with dark & white chocolate, walnuts, chocolate crust and vanilla ice cream is the best. Think all the makings of a chocolate chip cookie rolled and magically concocted into pie form. Year after year, this continues to be a favorite for diners.
2 Cafe Intermezzo
This European-style coffee house and restaurant is known for its vast selection of desserts. Next time you are out late and find yourself needing a dessert night cap, head to Cafe Intermezzo and choose from one of their almost 50 varieties of specialty cheesecakes. The most popular (and for good reason) is the Orea Cheesecake.
3 Alon's Bakery & Market
Satisfy your sweet cravings with a delectable selection of chocolate confections at this iconic neighborhood bakery and market. Known for it's made-from-scratch desserts, we recommend the Midnight Cake, which is three layers of chocolate buttermilk cake filled with a silky, rich, white chocolate mousse. Or, the Chocolate Louise, the Shokolina, the Macaroons. All of these and more are freshly made each day and available to grab-and-go. Brilliant.
Two Locations,
1394 North Highland Ave. NE Atlanta, GA 30306 and 4505 Ashford Dunwoody Rd. NE Atlanta, GA 30346
4 Sublime Doughnuts.
There are barely words to describe the pure bliss that comes from each and every savory bite of the creative selection of donuts from Sublime Doughnuts. The A-Town one, which is essentially the Atlanta version of Boston Cream, and the fresh Strawberry n' Cream donut which is an original-style donut stuffed with fresh strawberries and vanilla cream cheese are both showstoppers.
5 Davio's
This Northern Italian steakhouse does pretty much everything right but be sure to save room for the desserts. They are almost worth foregoing the pre-dinner bread. Our fave is the Warm Chocolate Cake with Amareno Cherries and Vanilla Gelato. Delish
