The Hottest Trends Spotted At Swim Miami 2017

We are all coming down from the high of Swim Miami 2017 and can finally start deciding which suits will be in our shopping carts come the November release dates. This season was all about unique pieces and straying far away from the minimalist styles we have seen in recent years. From off-the-shoulder tops, to bold stripes, to fashionable bikini accessories, 2017’s vacations and aquatic adventures are sure to be extremely stylish. Here are our favorites:

Tie-less

We have all experienced that awful moment when a wave crashed against you at the beach, untying your top and leaving you helplessly revealed. The tie-less bikini trend has been slowly emerging over the years and finally hit the runway hard this summer. Every brand took to this trend differently, completely straying away from the classic side-tie bottom paired with a triangle top that ties around the back. Who doesn’t love an easy, no-hassle, “no strings attached” situation?(Pictured above: Tori Praver, Hot As Hell, INDAH)

Stripes

Stripes have always been ubiquitous in the world of swimwear seeing as they are a nautical staple. This season, however, we saw them in a different light: bold and colorful. From the edgy runway of INDAH, to the laid back runway of Tori Praver, we saw so many striped ‘kinis  that there is sure to be a style that “suits” everyone. Ditch your standard navy blue and white stripes for something that will give your usual Hamptons wardrobe a trendy kick.  (Pictured above from left: Hot As Hell, INDAH, Tori Praver)

Off-the-Shoulder

Now that we have gotten over our fear of unusual tan lines, designers are getting exponentially more creative with bikini shapes and styles. Last year it was high neck bikini tops. This year? Off the shoulder. From flouncy and frilly to tight and strap-y, this seemingly narrow style comes is a wide range of shapes for everyone’s taste. (Pictured above: INDAH, Luli Fama, Frankie’s Bikinis)

Chokers

Chokers made a serious comeback beginning in 2015; celebrities, models and young girls alike are donning them in every corner of the fashion industry. This weekend, we saw them command a Swim Week take-over from the runways, to the front row, to the VIP gift bags (Thank you Pitusa). Normally we might be opposed to pairing one with a bikini to avoid strange tan lines, but today’s swim styles are so extravagant and intricate that maybe it won’t make much of a difference.(Pictured above: Frankie’s Bikinis, KAOHS Swim, Tori Praver)

Barefoot Sandals

Chokers aren’t the only pool-side accessory making headway this season. My Beachy Side made it’s runway debut at INDAH’s “Casa INDAH” Swim 2017 show. The sole-less gladiator sandal is the ultimate beach accessory to look effortlessly chic in without ruining your shoes with salt water or chlorine. The styles come in black and white to complement a range of bikini colors and pair perfectly with INDAH’s 2017 collection. (Pictured above: INDAH paired with My Beachy Side gladiators.)
