Pastry Chef, Sarah Lewis, has outdone herself with what has become the star of the dessert menu, the avocado chocolate cake. It's an ancho spiced chocolate cake with cinnamon meringue, chocolate avocado mousse and ganache. Every mouthful is rich, sweet, smooth with a hint of heat.

This dessert most likely will NOT show up on a school lunch tray, but its an innovative ode to an old classic. Uptown hot spot, Public School 214 "schools" its guests with its nostalgic classroom decor and scholastically influenced art installations. So it's no wonder when you order what you think is going to be a traditional ice cream sandwich, you are greeted with a sweet surprise. The chocolate chunk cookies alone are enough to satisfy your chocolate cravings, but when lathered in nutella, topped with vanilla bean ice cream and then sprinkled in bacon brittle; an ice cream sandwich takes on a whole new identity.
