Sulekha Hilton colors some of the most famous heads in Hollywood, so it isn’t surprising that she’s familiar with the creme de la creme of spots in Tinseltown. Hilton, a colorist at the feted Sally Hershberger salon in West Hollywood, has created specific hair color changes for leads in movies, worked with a network of Hollywood’s “who’s who” and. regardless of who you are, will give you the best gosh-darned hair in LA. Here are Sulekha’s haute secrets.

Where were you born ?
Los Angeles
How long in Los angeles:
All my life!
South Carthay
Colorist at Sally Hershberger Los Angeles
Favorite Restaurant:
Currently it is Cook’s County
Best Sushi:
My favorite is Kiriko. It is a tiny place that does authentic Japanese sushi (they warned me of this when I first sat down). The sushi tastes so fresh that it is hard to get it from anywhere else now.
Best Italian:
I don’t usually go for Italian but I hear that the place to be is the new RivaBella.
Best dessert:
Lette macarons! I still have yet to find a better French macaron place in LA. It is across from Kreation Juicery in Beverly Hills so I can grab a juice to balance out the feeling that I have been bad!
Best place for a romantic date:
Ray's at LACMA
Best place for a power business meeting:
The Polo Lounge at the Beverly Hills Hotel!
Favorite shopping venue/boutique:
My absolute favorite is the vintage expo. I just went earlier this year at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium. Items were anywhere from $50 to tens of thousands. It feels like walking through a fashion archive.
Best Spa:
Olympic Spa. But you have to be able to be naked around people! I feel thoroughly scrubbed and relaxed when I leave.
Favorite Cultural Event:
From the Renaissance Fair to Dia de Los Muertas at the Hollywood Forever Cemetary and everything in between. LA is brimming with culture.
Favorite Cultural Institution:
Art Deco Society
Best Steakhouse:
I am very picky about my meat. If I want steak I get it from my butcher Lindy & Grundy and cook it at home.
Best Pizza:
I try to stay away from that delicious bread and cheese combo!
Best Lunch:
Real Food Daily. It is a vegan restaurant that is down the street from the Salon. Even though I eat meat, vegan is my favorite.
Best Gym/Athletic Facility:
I don't do gyms. I get my cardio from Soulcycle spinning (Flywheel is opening down the street soon so I will see how it compares!) and West Side Ballet for a work out. Ballet is so good for strengthening my body. It helps being on my feet all day.
Best Massage:
Definitely the woman at my chiropractic office (Adi Herman Body Works). Her name is Yo and she is so good that I usually go in and out of consciousness during the massage.
Best Limousine/Driving Service:
Music Express
Best Museum/Exhibit:
It might be the Museum of Science and Industry but I haven’t been since I was a child. I enjoy the Peterson Automotive Museum and if I want to wrap up my day with different kinds of art LACMA is right across the street.
Favorite historic/legendary place to see or explore:
The Magic Castle
All-around favorite locale in Los Angeles, whether a neighborhood, restaurant, venue, or other
Malibu. I just love that ocean air!
Best aspect of Los Angeles
As you can see I have a pretty difficult time picking a favorite of anything in LA. There is so much to do and see. I have always lived here and I don't think I will ever be able to experience it all. And if I need to get away, I can easily drive to the Mountains, the Ocean, or the Desert.
