Haute Event: Chris Brown Debuts Art Collection With Ron English At Opera Gallery

On June 12, the art & music world came out to celebrate Chris Brown’s art show debut with legendary modern artist Ron English last night at the Opera Gallery in NYC.

The “Dum English” exhibit was a paradoxical postmodern themed display of works featuring mixed media art by Chris Brown who was debuting his work for the first time in NY at famed Opera Gallery, presented by Hennessy. The exhibit also featured a myriad of pieces by Ron English and also  marked the New York launch of the DUM English Toy Collection, an exclusive line of collectible toys and art sculptures created by Brown and English along with sculpture manufacturers Garageworks Industries and leading toy producers Made by Monsters.

June Ambrose, Busta Rhymes, Tika Sumpter, Jonathan Cheban and DJ Khaled all came out last night to support Chris in addition to Justin Combs, NY Giant Ramses Barden, BET’s Steven Hill, artist Kid Zoom and Sucklord and representatives from Christian Dior, YSL, Public School & Philip Lim and YSL.

DJ Mos kept the crowd grooving on the 1’s and 2’s while guests mingled the event  and enjoyed passed hors d’oeuvres by Jamaican hipster restaurant Miss Lily’s catering, a wide assortment of DUM English-branded mini cupcakes by Georgetown Cupcakes, and themed drinks created especially for the launch by Hennessy

The event, produced by Tammy Brook and FYI PR, also featured a string quartet from the NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts that Chris Brown personally chose to showcase in an effort to support and inspire local arts and performing arts programs. 100 percent of sales proceeds from Chris Brown’s art work will support art initiatives by The Symphonic Love Foundation, which aims to provide support and funding for a wide variety of music and arts youth programs.

Later in the night Chris Brown was spotted partying it up at the same club as Rihanna.
