The dance craze that started with “Dancing with the Stars” now has a temporary home at the Flamingo. “Battle of the Dance” brings together traditional Latin, Flamenco, Celtic and tango dances all on one stage.
The show starts in 1588 when hurricane winds drive the last of the Spanish Armada to the western shores of Ireland. The two cultures come together in dance, with the spicy rhythm of the Latin Flamenco and tango rivaling the staccato rhythm of the Celtic dancers. Both styles of dance seem to flow together on stage. At the end, the dancers meet together for a one-upmanship show bringing the true “Battle of the Dance” to the stage.
The show combines flashy colors with light and movement that fans of dance will truly appreciate. As an intermission, look for a play on shadows unlike you may have ever seen.
But hurry. The show is only scheduled at the Flamingo through Jan. 15. Shows are nightly at 7:30 p.m., dark on Mondays. You can check out a matinee at 1:30 p.m. Sundays as well. Tickets start at $35.99
