Architect Gal Nauer Joins Carlo Giorgetti for the Unveiling of Penthouse at The Plaza Hotel

World renowned architect Gal Nauer joined Carlo Giorgetti, President of the Italian furniture maker Giorgetti, at a cocktail reception for the unveiling of Penthouse 2009 at The Plaza, one of the most extraordinary luxury penthouse residences in New York City. Designed by internationally recognized architect Gal Nauer, the 6,300-square-foot triplex is exquisitely furnished by Giorgetti and the ultimate luxury home.

“I’m delighted to present this beautiful, one-of-a-kind Penthouse residence, which is the culmination of years of work to transform the space from a grand vision into a reality,” said Ms. Nauer, founder of Gal Nauer Architects (GNA). “It has been a wonderful experience working with the designers at Giorgetti to select furnishings that both complement and help to define the spaces within the Penthouse.”

Sitting atop the 103-year-old Beaux Arts Plaza, the four-bedroom Penthouse overlooks Central Park and offers both private niches and grand entertaining spaces with unique architectural elements created by the roofline of The Plaza. The artful, modern furnishings offset the classic luxury of wenge-stained white oak herringbone wood flooring with walnut borders, hand-painted DeGournay Silver Leaf wall coverings and dramatic Saint-Louis crystal chandeliers. Throughout the apartment is artwork by Mario Arlati and Kyung Jeon with sculpture from Chista.

The entrance to the penthouse opens into a sweeping 80-foot wide living room with a stunning wall of windows facing Central Park. A grand, formal dining room, featuring a pair of two-tier, 16-light Saint-Louis crystal chandeliers over a 14-foot Victor dining table coordinated with a buffet composed of the Oli storage system connects the living room to the gourmet kitchen. Flanking the Poggenpohl kitchen, a family room with fireplace is paneled on two sides.

At the center of the apartment is a dramatic white oak staircase leading up to the master suite as well as down to the second, third and fourth bedrooms (All levels of the penthouse are also serviced by an interior elevator), featuring the Excess chandelier from Saint-Louis crystal. The master bedroom is outfitted with Giorgetti’s Rea bed flanked by Roi nightstands, a lush leather bench and coordinating Rea chair. The Eos dressing table is topped by the Ara Mirror made of very rare Pau Ferro wood. The three additional bedrooms, which are situated on the lower level feature pieces such as the Ela chaise in ivory saddle leather, Norma and Kao Beds.

“This Penthouse tri-plex in the iconic Plaza is a spectacular residence with unparalleled luxury amenities overlooking Central Park, the world’s greatest urban landscape,” added Ms. Nauer.
