The word DUXIANA means so much more than luxury beds here in Dallas. That’s because the DUXIANA store in Preston Center is owned by Serena Cole, who not only serves as a sleep consultant and purveyor of fine DUX beds, but also a philanthropist and sophisticated socialite. Cole often transforms her boutique into a posh party space, and this was particularly true Thursday night when she threw her annual holiday party for friends and clients.
Miss Cole’s fete, however, isn’t your traditional seasonal shindig. She makes sure to include all the classic holiday festivities, like live jazz music (performed by Booker T. Washington students), wine and heavy hors d’oeuvres. But Cole also wants to make sure this party is something you will truly remember, and benefit from when it comes to making your adobe merry and bright. Various tables stationed throughout the store offered hands-on education on crafting your very own Christmas wreath, floral arrangement or couture gift wrapping.
Chris and Robbie from Terrain Horticulture Design created made-from-scratch wreaths using oranges, cloves, moss and more, emphasizing the importance of not only a wreath’s visual attraction but also it’s luring scent. Koni from Cebolla’s showed guests how to make breathtaking holiday floral arrangements, dusting gorgeous bouquets with glittering white “snow,” while Debbie Lynn demonstrated how to achieve the kind of gift wrapping that makes people hesitant to open things. Local catering company Shorty’s Texas Catering supplied the decadent bites, including a tantalizing dip made with sundried tomatoes, pesto and goat cheese.
Guests were encouraged to bring Target gift cards or give donations for Cole’s charity of choice, Dwell with Dignity, who design soothing, inspiring homes for people struggling with poverty.
