Kick Ass Cupcakes
Ultrahip Davis Square turned even sweeter when Kick Ass Cupcakes came to town in 2007. The bakery, which specializes in artisan cupcakes (made with the purest, most natural ingredients), is true to its name: each cupcake packs a flavorful punch, from the limited-editions key lime and cookie dough to the classic chocolate. Canine and feline sidekicks will enjoy the aptly-named (and pet-friendly) Pupcakes and Kittycakes.

Mike’s Pastry
No trip to the North End is complete without a stop at Mike’s, where the line, full of locals and tourists alike, often snakes out the door and down Hanover Street. There are literally hundreds of confections to choose from, and after dinner at any one of the neighborhood’s incredible restaurants, better judgment may sway you from choosing dessert. Your heart, however, will love Mike’s cannoli.

Flour Bakery
One half of the mastermind behind husband-wife duo Meyers & Chang, Joanne Chang’s sweet tooth outpost, Flour Bakery, opened to rave reviews in the South End in 2000, with locations in Fort Point Channel and Central Square following thereafter. We like the banana bread, a Flour staple and winner of several national awards.
