The California Mille: Vintage Cars, Open Roads

You’re sitting behind the wheel of your favorite vintage sports car.  The wind’s in your hair, sun on your face, gorgeous scenery is all around, and there’s nothing but open road in front of you, can life honestly get any better?

The sign up for 2010 California Mille is happening right now, so if you want to get in on the action, it’s time to press the pedal to the floor and make some moves.

For those who may not know, the California Mille is an annual driving event covering 1,000 miles in three days.

The “race” will take place April 26 to 29, and in true Italian Mille style, event entry is limited to drivers of vintage automobiles, more than 52-years-old, with very few exceptions made.

The Italian Mille, for which the California Mille is modeled, ran from 1927 to 1957.

19 years ago, Martin Swig’s passion for vintage cars inspired him to ask the organizers of the Italian Mille to authorize a California Version, and they did.

Now in its 20th year, the California Mille takes participants on a gorgeous three-day trek along the Northern California Coastline in search of the perfect balance between, freedom, machine, man, and road.

An in-depth feature story on the event will be showcased in the newest edition of Haute Living Magazine which is schedule to print later this week. Be sure to grab a copy to read more about the California Mille and the once in a lifetime experience it offers to those with a serious passion for vintage rides. You won’t want to miss it.
