Haute Spot: The Manhattan Inn Piano Bar in Greenpoint, Brooklyn

The piano bar is an emblem of a past New York nightlife scene, one of old-world elegance and style that epitomized both luxury and the downtrodden—how a single instrument displayed on a stage or catty-cornered between lounge tables could be both a night’s entertainment at an uptown hotel or a cramped, downtown bar. Today, however, the piano bar seems to be relegated to preserving its past image and holding on to a static legacy, uninterested in adapting to shifting tastes and maintaining relevancy

Haute Wines: Two California Classics

I tend to struggle a bit with California Wines. Once in a while I find gems but with the glut of over-ripened fruit bombs and oaky Chardonnays out there I often veer away from Golden State.
