Haute Event: Jenny McCarthy Hosts A Midsummer Night’s Dream at the Palms, Kevin Dillon Celebrates His Birthday
The Palms was a packed house as 9 Group and Palms presented the 4th Annual Midsummer Night’s Dream – A Masquerade Lingerie Bacchanlia located poolside at Palms Pool & Bungalows Saturday night. At about 11 p.m. model, actress and author Jenny McCarthy arrived to host the evening, first posing for photos with Palms owner George Maloof. Kevin Dillon from the HBO series Entourage celebrated his birthday at Midsummer Night’s Dream with friends including actor from HBO series How To Make It In America Victor Rasuk.

The movie industry provides more than just entertainment for the masses. Director Philip Kaufman’s new film Hemmingway & Gellhorn, set in his resident San Francisco, will greatly stimulate the local economy. It is estimated that for every dollar that HBO spends on production, a total output of $2.95 will be regenerated into the San Francisco economy.

Haute 100 Los Angeles Update: Edward Roski Jr.
While there have been delays along the way, Roski has not given up on his dream of bringing a NFL team to the Los Angeles area. His proposed $800 million, 75,000-seat stadium was approved for construction, but a holdup in signing a new labor deal with the player’s union has blocked progress and has allowed time for rival stadium plans to emerge. However, Roski remains positive saying, “Our target is yesterday…it will happen.”

Haute Event: The Salvation Army’s “Flower Power” Luncheon
San Franciscan philanthropists gathered at the historic InterContinental Mark Hopkins San Francisco on the crest of Nob Hill on Thursday, Aug. 5, for a luncheon packed with power, flower power, that is. The sixth annual "Flower Power" luncheon and floral design show benefited the "Back to School" program started by The Salvation Army, which provides school age children from low-income families with clothing and school supplies at no charge. "Flower Power" also contributes funds to after-school programs throughout the Bay Area.

Measuring 281 feet and displacing nearly 3,000 gross tons, Cakewalk, built by Derecktor Shipyards, is the largest American-built yacht in terms of length in more than 70 years. Equally significant, it’s largest ever built stateside in terms of volume. Cakewalk slipped into the water on August 8 at Derecktor’s shipyard in Bridgeport, Connecticut.
