Next month Ballet Arizona will kick off its 13th annual Ballet Under the Stars program by once again taking the entertainment outdoors. Come out to Valley parks to experience a complimentary night of captivating dance, music, costumes and lighting.

Make a date with your favorite fellow fine arts fan and head to a Valley park near you next month between Sept. 22 and 26 to enjoy a wondrous, romantic evening of ballet beneath the Arizona sky. The world-renowned Ballet Arizona, under the artistic direction of the legendary Ib Anderson, will perform pieces ranging from classical to contemporary dance, including George Balanchine’s Divertimento no. 15 and The Four Temperaments, as well as a preview from the upcoming full-length “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.”

Ballet Under the Stars is also something of a family affair for those with children who have a love of dance. In fact, the performances will even feature children dancers as part of Class Act, an education and outreach program of Ballet Arizona. To participate in this season’s events, local third-graders from El Mirage, Four Peaks, Boardmor, Clarendon and Mensendick elementary schools were given the opportunity to learn choreography under the guidance of the professional dancers, and will get to perform their dance at the Ballet Under the Stars events.
