The annual Al Gaffal Dhow Race sets sail on May 23, 2015 in Dubai.

Award-nominated actor Mikael Chirinian takes to the stage in the French play La Liste De Mes Envies (The List of My Desires) on May 28 at Centrepoint Theatre in the Dubai Community Theatre Arts Centre.

Jim Wheat, the artistic mastermind behind the Dollarsandart program, is back with a new exhibition. The show opened on April 15 and 16 at the Dubai International Financial Centre’s Rira Gallery and will now travel around the city through June 15. The show supports the Noor Foundation for the blind and is being held in collaboration with Mercedes Benz and the House of Van Der Haer.

Many elite members of the UAE business community gathered at the Expo 2020 site in Jebel Ali to discuss the upcoming World Expo, where the “Expo 2020 Effect” and the online vendor registration system were unveiled.

The Nobel Prize Museum in Dubai runs through April 29 at Burj Khalifa’s Annex to the left of the Armani Hotel entrance. “The Nobel Prize: Ideas Changing the World” exhibition honors past winners while showing how they have impacted the world. The goal of the exhibition is to inspire those who attend to use their own creativity and knowledge to find ways to positively impact the lives of people everywhere.

One of the most brilliant minds you may ever meet is Dr. Naif Al-Mutawa. Creator of The 99, his work and talent goes much deeper than the world of comics. Al-Mutawa has studied psychology extensively, earning a Masters and a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology. He also has a Masters in Organizational Psychology and an MBA. Dr. Naif is a professor of medicine at Kuwait University, a licensed psychologist in New York and also founded the Soor Center for Psychological Counseling and Assessment.

Laura El-Tantawy’s photography exhibition called In the Shadow of the Pyramids is the culmination of nearly ten years of work and explores the transformation of Egypt’s reformation in a way only someone with diverse roots and immense artistic talent can possibly do.

World Art Dubai is the newest addition to Dubai’s Official Art Season, billed as a “unique fusion of art, education and entertainment.” Art lovers, collectors and buyers raved about the event, which featured pieces spanning all genres and artists from four different continents. World Art Dubai ran April 8 through 11, 2015, at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

Season five of Fashion Forward celebrated another great run in 2015. Considered the fashion event for the Middle East, it’s one show no fashionista can stand to miss. There was plenty to seen, as Middle Eastern designers converged on Dubai to show off the best of the best couture. Organizers reported 15,000 to 18,000 people to attended this year.
