David Yurman has always worn its art-world roots on its sleeve, and this fall it is putting them in the window. The American jeweler is the exclusive jewelry sponsor of Roy Lichtenstein: Like New, the Whitney Museum of American Art’s major exhibition of the Pop Art pioneer, which opens on October 11, 2026 — and it has turned three of its boutiques into Lichtenstein-inspired installations to celebrate.

The sponsorship comes in collaboration with the Estate of Roy Lichtenstein, and the fit is personal. David Yurman is a sculptor and Sybil Yurman a painter and ceramicist, and through cultural partnerships, historic art restorations and support for philanthropic foundations, the couple have built a lasting relationship with the global arts community, with an eye toward keeping creativity accessible to new audiences.

The show itself is a homecoming. Roy Lichtenstein: Like New is the artist’s first major solo museum exhibition in New York since 1993, curated by Meg Onli, the Whitney’s Nancy and Fred Poses Curator, and artist Alex Da Corte, who serves as guest curator. It brings together more than 130 works made from the 1940s through the 1990s, with particular focus on his groundbreaking work of the 1960s and 1970s.

Expect the greatest hits alongside the deep cuts. The exhibition pairs Lichtenstein’s most recognizable works with lesser-known pieces and archival materials, including works being shown publicly for the first time and re-creations of important murals from across his oeuvre.

“Roy Lichtenstein pushed the boundaries of American art, taking something so familiar and making it feel completely new,” said David and Sybil Yurman. “We recognize that instinct very much. It’s something that’s been a driving force in our work. That’s why we are proud to partner with the Whitney Museum of American Art on Roy Lichtenstein’s exhibition, Like New.”

The windows are where the partnership goes public. Designed with the Estate of Roy Lichtenstein and inspired by works in the exhibition, the installations were unveiled on October 2 at David Yurman’s New York Soho, Dallas NorthPark and Miami Design District locations. Each offers its own interpretation of the show, using graphic compositions, vivid color, pattern and scale as an immersive backdrop for the house’s jewelry.

It’s a smart pairing. Lichtenstein made the everyday look monumental, and a jewelry window, built to make small things feel enormous, is exactly where that trick lands best.

Born in New York City in 1923, Lichtenstein was a founder of Pop Art in America. He began with commercial ads and comic-strip characters before expanding to landscapes, still lifes, figures and even the history of painting itself, and by his death in 1997 he had created more than 5,000 paintings, sculptures, drawings, prints and objects, from dinner plates to designs for detailing a BMW.

The Whitney is a natural home for the show. Founded in 1930 by the artist and philanthropist Gertrude Vanderbilt Whitney, the museum houses the foremost collection of American art from the twentieth and twenty-first centuries.
