Eat Inside an Artwork: The Art Basel Paris 2026 Itinerary That Goes Beyond the Grand Palais

This October in Paris, you can eat dinner inside an artwork. For seven nights near Place de l’Étoile, chef Dalad Kambhu will cook Thai food in two stainless-steel boats built by artist Rirkrit Tiravanija, and it’s just the start of a week that stretches far beyond Art Basel Paris, which returns to the Grand Palais from October 23 to 25, 2026. Around the fair, Miu Miu brings Alice Diop’s first exhibition to the Palais d’Iéna, Guerlain fills its Champs-Élysées maison with some 30 artists, Fondation Louis Vuitton unveils a show on collector Gustave Fayet and galleries and collectors pop up from the Palais-Royal to the Right Bank.

Few cities understand the relationship between art, fashion and a very good dinner quite like Paris. During Art Basel week, that relationship becomes irresistible.

These are the dinners, fashion-house exhibitions and cultural stops worth slipping between appointments, and in a few cases, worth planning an entire evening around.

Fondation Louis Vuitton: Gustave Fayet, Collector–Designer

Bois de Boulogne | Oct. 9, 2026–March 8, 2027

Any art-week itinerary needs room for Fondation Louis Vuitton. Opening October 9, Gustave Fayet, Collector–Designer continues the institution’s exploration of the collectors who shaped modern art, and during a week so focused on what people are buying, a show about the person behind a collection feels especially timely.

It’s a close look at the curiosity and conviction behind a collector’s choices, and how those choices change the way we see art. Make it one of the week’s longer visits; Frank Gehry’s glass sails deserve time too.

When to go: October 9, 2026–March 8, 2027. Reserve admission directly with the Fondation.

Haute Living take: The thinking collector’s stop. Leave an entire afternoon.

WE ARE ONA: Dalad’s x Rirkrit Tiravanija

Near Place de l’Étoile | Oct. 19–25

If you build your art-week itinerary around one dinner, make it this. WE ARE ONA founder Luca Pronzato has paired chef Dalad Kambhu with artist Rirkrit Tiravanija, whose decades-long practice has famously turned cooking and sharing food into art, for a seven-day restaurant where the tables themselves are the attraction.

Tiravanija’s installation features two stainless-steel boats inspired by Thailand’s traditional fishing vessels, transformed into communal tables with built-in steam pots. The chefs cook right inside the artwork, folding Kambhu’s Thai cooking into an experience where the setting, the preparation and the act of sharing a meal become one. An art-week reservation that invites you to settle in, eat well and take part? Irresistible.

When to go: October 19–25. The exact address hadn’t been announced at press time; contact WE ARE ONA for reservations, pricing and seating times.

Miu Miu: Geste de Consolation

Palais d’Iéna | Oct. 21–25

Miu Miu, the fair’s public program partner, brings one of the week’s most compelling cultural projects to the Palais d’Iéna, inviting French filmmaker Alice Diop to create her first exhibition, Geste de Consolation.

Centered on the work of Black women artists, it unfolds across four interconnected spaces, weaving film, photography, sculpture, literature, music and performance into a journey through memory and repair. Works by Zanele Muholi and Mary Lee Bendolph lead to the culmination: Simone Leigh’s monumental bronze Sentinel (Mami Wata).

When to go: October 21–25. Guided-tour registration through Miu Miu opens October 8. Give it far more than a spare half hour.

Haute Living take: The most moving show of the week. Register on October 8.

Guerlain: L’Heure des Possibles

68 avenue des Champs-Élysées | Oct. 21–Nov. 15

Paris at blue hour is practically an attraction in itself. Guerlain turns that fleeting moment, the light fading and the evening still ahead, into the subject of L’Heure des Possibles at its historic maison at 68 avenue des Champs-Élysées, where around 30 international artists explore the threshold between day and night.

The theme feels perfectly at home at a house so tied to atmosphere, memory and emotion. For anyone drawn to the overlap of beauty and art, it’s an easy and lovely addition to the week.

When to go: October 21–November 15. Confirm visiting hours and admission with Guerlain.

Frith Street Gallery at Le Molière

40 rue de Richelieu, near the Palais-Royal | Oct. 19–25

Some of the week’s best discoveries happen far from the fair floor. Near the Palais-Royal, Frith Street Gallery’s temporary presentation brings together four artists. Dayanita Singh’s new Museo delle sedie installation expands her idea of photographs as mobile museums; Małgorzata Mirga-Tas presents richly layered textile work; and Tacita Dean’s drawings on found school slates conjure clouds, planets and trails of light on surfaces already marked by time.

Then there are Cornelia Parker’s Alter Ego sculptures, suspended pairs of silver-plated objects, one intact and one flattened, which make the familiar suddenly strange.

When to go: October 19–25. Open Monday–Saturday, 9 a.m.–8 p.m., and Sunday, 10 a.m.–5 p.m.

Haute Living take: Four extraordinary artists, one perfect Palais-Royal afternoon.

REFRACT: Charles Riva Collection x Bureau of Innovation

Two Paris locations | Oct. 20–25

For those as passionate about collectible design as the art above it, REFRACT belongs on the itinerary. Presented across two locations by Charles Riva Collection and Bureau of Innovation, it brings contemporary art, design and live performance together around movement, material and perception, with photography and painting by Robert Mapplethorpe, Richard Avedon, Christopher Wool and Daniel Richter alongside design by Sophie Dries, Roham Shamekh, Corpus Studio and others.

The thrill is in the conversations between works: how an object changes the way you read a photograph, or how a painting shifts your sense of a material.

When to go: October 20–25. Confirm the addresses, visiting arrangements and performance schedule directly with Charles Riva Collection.

Haute Living take: For the collector who loves a great interior as much as a great gallery.
