As the eighth season of “Curb Your Enthusiasm” came to an end over the weekend, Haute Living takes a look at Larry David’s dining choices throughout the show.
Mama’s Boy – (Season 1, Episode 1) This restaurant was featured in the first episode of the first season where Larry David sets the tone for the rest of the show with an awkward Hitler Joke.
Marmalade Café – (Season 1, Episode 2; Season 6, Episode 8) A real restaurant, the Marmalade Café is located at 710 Montana Ave in Santa Monica, California and 14910 Ventura Blvd. in Sherman Oaks, California. It’s a popular Los Angeles chain that was also used on occasion as the dining spot for impromptu lunches and business meetings for the “Curb Your Enthusiasm” staff.
L.A. Farm – (Season 1, Episode 4; Season 2, Episode 4; Season 2, Episode 5; Season 6, Episode 4; Season 7, Episode 9) Located at 3000 Olympic Blvd. in Santa Monica, California, this restaurant is one of the most frequented eateries in the series by Larry and the gang. The real restaurant is now called Stefan’s at L.A. Farm and is headed up by the season five Top Chef finalist.
Bandera – (Season 1, Episode 5) This eclectic American restaurant is known for wood-fired rotisseries and is located at 11700 Wilshire Blvd. in Los Angeles, California.
Holly Street Bar & Grill – (Season 1, Episode 8) Now closed, this former ivy-lined Pasadena pub on East Holly Street was known for its warm atmosphere and provided plenty of space for Larry David and Jeff to speak openly about how lame it was of Cheryl’s recently deceased aunt not to leave a suicide note.
Universal City Hilton – (Season 2, Episode 2) Located at 555 Universal Hollywood Dr. in Universal City, California, the four-diamond hotel’s café is where Jeff asks Larry to meet him for coffee one morning where he reveals that he’s actually living there temporarily due to a new separation from Susie.
Royal Star Seafood – (Season 2, Episode 4) Now closed, this former takeout spot was where Larry accuses an HBO exec of stealing shrimp from his Kung Pao order. Royal Star Seafood was formally located on Wilshire Blvd. in Santa Monica, California.
Sainsbury Market Deli – (Season 2, Episode 6) Located at 12200 Wilshire Blvd. in Los Angeles, this is a popular L.A. sandwich shop that is affiliated with the huge United Kingdom grocery chain. This is where Larry realizes the guy doing the meat slicing is an old acquaintance.
The W Hotel – (Season 2, Episode 10) Located at 930 Hilgard Ave. in Los Angeles, Larry and Cheryl celebrate a new partnership with CBS at the W’s Westwood restaurant.
Saddle Peak Lodge – (Season 2, Episode 8) Larry and Cheryl visit this rustic Calabasas lodge for a meal with family and friends, who bring plenty of “homework” for Larry. Saddle Peak Lodge is located at 419 Cold Canyon Road in Calabasas, California.
Brighton Coffee Shop – (Season 3, Episode 4) This place is known for crowded lunch hours and is a famous Beverly Hills diner located at 9600 Brighton Way.
Opaline – (Season 4, Episode 2) This restaurant is no longer there, but the West Hollywood locale used to get plenty of praise for its small plates and provided a good venting location for Larry and Richard.
Matt’s – (Season 4, Episode 6) This faux restaurant was featured in “The Car Pool Lane” episode when Larry and Jeff hunt down friend Marty Funkhouse to score tickets to a big Dodgers game.
26th Street Bakery – (Season 6, Episode 1) Larry and Cheryl visit this fictional bakery to pick up their favorite chocolate layer cake for a housewarming party. Unfortunately, what Larry and Cheryl don’t know is that the faux bakery actually specializes in erotic treats and they pick up a cake that is shaped in a way they aren’t expecting.
Mondo Gelato – (Season 6, Episode 3) Larry pops into this Italian dessert spot, located at 10893 West Pico Blvd. in Los Angeles, for some gelato for himself and Cheryl.
Matteo’s – (Season 7, Episode 4) Larry finally expands his dining horizons beyond American when he eats at this classy Italian restaurant located at 2321 Westwood Blvd. in Los Angeles.
18th Street Coffee House – (Season 7, Episode 5) Larry finds himself a potential date at this strict Santa Monica café (they do not allow cell phone use on premise).
The Organic Panificio – (Season 8, Episode 2) Overlooking the water, this former Marina del Rey eatery provided Jeff, Larry and Funkhouse the perfect location to discuss great views, including the breasts of Richard’s new burlesque-dancing girlfriend.
Pinkberry – (Season 8, Episode 2) There are many Pinkberry’s around, but this is where Larry meets Jeff for a healthy snack and gets accused by other customers of pulling a “chat-n-cut”.
The Victorian – (Season 8, Episode 5) Located at 2640 Main St. in Santa Monica, this upscale restaurant (which has a speakeasy bar beneath) is where Jeff and Susie’s goodbye party takes place.
