Miami Fashion Week 2019 Returns With New Designers, Collections, Venues And More

Miami Fashion Week is making its way back to the Magic City with a slew of new featured designers, collections, sponsors and events. Beginning on Wednesday, May 29th, Miami Fashion Week will showcase the 2020 Resort Collections from both established designers and those new to the scene. MIAFW’s Honorary President Antonio Banderas will return for the action, joining designers, industry experts, fashion gurus and celebrities as they experience this year’s exciting lineup of fashion events.
MIAFW will kick off on Wednesday, May 29th, at the Kimpton EPIC Miami hotel, which will serve as this year’s official hotel partner and home-base for the affair. The festivities will begin with a press conference at the hotel, followed by a cocktail reception at Saks Fifth Avenue – Brickell, at the stunning Brickell City Centre.

The runway shows will take place at Ice Palace Film Studios for the third year in a row, situated behind white, fortress-like walls, dressed with manicured gardens and photo booths from 4-9 p.m. as the shows ensue. Featured designers include Ágatha Ruiz de la Prada, RR by Rene, Fernando Alberto Atelier, Daniella Batlle, Glory Ang, Vero Diaz, Herminas Reea, among others, which will showcase their resort cruise collections for the 2020 season.
Highlights of the week include panel discussions led by Antonio Banderas and industry experts; the Miami Fashion Week Summit on Thursday, May 30th and Friday, May 31st from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at Miami Dade College Wolfson Campus’ auditorium; an exclusive runway show from guest country Dominican Republic, featuring designers Giannina Azar, Jenny Polanco, Arcadio Díaz, Jacquelina Then and Monica Varela; and the highly-anticipated Miami Fashion Week Benefit Gala hosted by Antonio Banderas, benefitting the Nicklaus Children’s Hospital Foundation, as well as its own foundation, Fundación Lágrimas y Favores at the Faena Forum on Friday, May 31st. The gala will feature exciting programming including a sit-down dinner, live entertainment, a celebrity performer, a silent auction with covetable items and more—all giving back to a great cause. Premium sponsors include PORCELANOSA, who will be building this year’s runway, Lexus, returning sponsor for a second year who will introduce its Ride and Drive activation and the Dominican Republic.
