For the first time at the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Awards the Selection Committee were so dazzled by contestants designs they could not settle on just one winner. This year, the committee selected three equal winners: Aurora James of Brother Vellies, Jonathan Simkhai and Rio Uribe of Gypsy Sport. All three designers each take home $300,000 and a year’s mentoring, according to CFDA.com.

The night commenced with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, while all attendees shuffled into the event, which was held at Spring Studios. Attendees included Haute 100 listers Diane Von Furstenberg, who is also the CFDA Chairman, Anna Wintour and Vera Wang as well as Amanda Seyfried, Riccardo Tisci, Karlie Kloss, Zendaya, Haute Living cover star Victor Cruz, Tamara Mellon, Mike Ovitz, among others.

At the event, both Von Furstenberg and Wintour said a few words. She thanked her fellow Selection Committee members, and made a special callout to the Fashion Fund alumni in her remarks. “It is always so touching and wonderful when you come back each year to support the new group. We watch you continue to grow and we are proud of your success.”

Wintour, who spoke after Von Furstenberg, said, “You are a truly remarkable, lively, and independent group. Authentic is the word we have all kept coming back to best describe all of you.”

Following Wintour, Seyfried introduced Tisci, who said a few words about his upbringing and why he accepted the offer to be Givenchy’s Artistic Director. He said, “I came from a very simple family, and financially my family was not very well. That is the reason why I said yes to the job.”

The crowd was then pleasantly surprised when songstress Andra Day made a surprise appearance and performed her highly praised song “Rise Up.” Finally, it was time to announce the winners.

The night ended with a few words from designer Jonathan Simkhai.
