Barrafina Drury Lane to open in July

Fino might be closing its doors, but Sam and Eddie Hart have announced that another Barrafina outpost in Drury Lane will be opening this July. The third Barrafina will comprise of 23 red leather high stools, one long marble topped bar, a state of the art kitchen and private dining space for up to 28 guests. Barrafina Drury Lane will operate a first come, first served queue system and will only take reservations for groups of 8 or more in the lower ground floor private dining room.

The famous croquetas

The brothers first looked at the site in 2011 but at the time nothing came to fruition. After successfully opening their second site in July last year on the corner of Adelaide Street, the plans for Drury Lane were resurrected. Sam Hart says ‘We are delighted to be opening on Drury Lane. The building really suits Barrafina and we are looking forward to making friends in a new neighbourhood.’

Executive Head Chef Nieves Barragán Mohacho will be overseeing the kitchen operation and will be designing an a la carte menu that combines classic Barrafina favourites with new contemporary dishes inspired by recent trips to Galicia, San Sebastien and Mallorca such as migas y huevos rotos, cuttlefish empanadilla and conjeo al ajillo. As with Adelaide Street and Frith Street the daily specials will continue to push the boundaries and work with the exceptional seasonal ingredients delivered each day.

The succinct wine list will match the new menu and bring on board even more interesting producers. The Hart Bros Special Selection Manzanilla sherry and Albariño will be available by the glass and bottle.

General Manager José Etura will be heading up the front of house where once again the waiters and chefs will work side by side to deliver the authentic Spanish tapas experience.
