Harrods Welcomes Elie Tahari To London

Israeli-born American designer Elie Tahari is marking his expansion into European territory with the opening of an exclusive shop-in-shop concept in London’s luxury department store, Harrods.

Located on the fourth floor of the retailer’s Fashion Lab space, the Elie Tahari corner is currently being leased by the brand. “We are excited to be partnering with Harrods to continue the growth and expansion of our presence in Europe. Our Spring collection has been so well received this season so we decided this was the perfect timing to showcase the brand to the Harrods customer,” said the designer. “It’s a real shop and a real commitment. We’re running the sales and the buying,” he added, as well as going on to say that the new Tahari Sport line, which has already been sent to Harrods, is “doing extremely well” and “taking off in a big way, both domestically and internationally.”

The shop-in-shop concept will extend the brand aesthetic in the heart of the British capital by including signature touches to the space, such as mid-century furniture by Thomas Noguchi and Hans Wagner and prints from Tahari’s Spring 2015 campaign with Hilary Rhoda. The designer, whose label is founded upon the belief that “clothing should be quieter than the woman so that her true beauty can shine through,” has long been a permanent fashion fixture on the scene in New York. Last spring saw the brand celebrate its 40th anniversary with a capsule collection of limited edition updates on traditional silhouettes.
