Esteemed seafood restaurant Water Grill will be opening a second location in Santa Monica following a $1.5 million renovation of its original location on Grand Avenue.

According to LA Eater, King’s Seafood, the parent company of Water Grill restaurant, will be “rebranding Ocean Avenue Seafood into another Water Grill.” The debut is scheduled to take place mid-summer, but specific details on the new location have otherwise been limited.

Santa Monica Patch reports that the Ocean Avenue Seafood will soon morph into the new high-end seafood house known for its raw oyster bar. Chef Damon Gordon has been in charge of simplifying Water Grill’s menu over the past year, and is praised for his “fish ‘n’ chips and fritto mist appetizer.”

Once Ocean Avenue Seafood is reopened as the new Water Grill, Santa Monica Patch reports the “outdoor dining area will be enclosed, the entry relocated and the façade redone with painted wood panels, glazed brick and steel-framed windows.”

Established in 1999, the original Water Grill downtown location offers an extensive raw bar, chilled shellfish, appetizers, salads and sandwiches, seafood and meat entrees, whole fish and plenty of sides.
