My Christmas vacation started out in Florida with my family, but then I headed to LA for a night before jetting to Cabo. Barry Gesser took his sister Helene, Jen Raines, his niece Marielle, and myself on his plane. We stayed at The Esperanza and it was fabulous. We had an amazing pool in our hotel room and a butler named Louis. Every morning our private chairs were set up for us on a cliff overlooking the water—the service was unbelievable and it was so beautiful.
We went to many restaurants and had some delicious meals throughout the week including Edith’s with Suzie and Alex Casdin, the Market Jean-Georges at the One and Only Palmilla, lunch at The Office and Hacienda on the beach, and Trailer Park with Barry Gesser. A couple other notables are Casaianos and La Golondrina; and of course late nights at the taco stands…We also hit up Nowhere Bar in town, Squid Roe, and some dive bars with Jason Pomeranc, Nicky and Paris Hilton, David Katzenberg and Jen Raines. One of the days we hired a yacht with a chef and jet skied. I also got the opportunity to swim with dolphins, and had spa treatments and massages galore.
On Dec. 30, I went to Mike Meldman’s party at a place called El Dorado. Everyone was there: Gary Gilbert, Michael Baruch, Jamie and Kelly Patricof, Jessica Alba, Rachel Zalis, Kevin Washington, Geyer Kosinski, Jen Goldman, Molly Sims, Leo DiCaprio, Bar Refaeli, Barry Gesser, Robert Futterman, Paris Hilton, Nicky Hilton, David Katzenberg, Tony Shafrazi, Jen Raines, Steve Levinson, Naomi Campbell and Kid Rock. Other people in Cabo included Peter and Erica Marsh, and Chris Furie. Caroline Stanbury from Gift Library was at Palmilla, and Jenny Grubman and her husband Jamie Rothenberg were staying at Las Ventanas. It was such a great vacation, and flying home “Air Barry” was the perfect end!
I spent my first night back in LA in Malibu with Alex von Furstenberg, his son, and Ali Kay eating dinner at their home and watching movies. The next night we headed to a private birthday bash. I grabbed a quick bite first with Alexandra von Furstenberg, Dax Miller, and Jane and Jon Mass before heading over to the party. There was a disco room, dancers, and a karaoke room. Such an entertaining evening with guests like Hilary and Steve Tisch, Molly Sims, Heather and Steve Mnuchin, Reese Witherspoon, Peter Morton, Wendy Benson Landes and Michael Landes, Brent Bolthouse, Bryan Lourd, Glenn Vallecillos, Kathy and Rick Hilton, Cade Hudson, Marie Alice, Marlien Rentmeester, Lori Loughlin, and about another 200 people. On the other side of town, Jay Luchs was having a party at the Sky Bar which was also off the hook. Jen Raines, Ally B, Michael Baruch, Dani Stahl and Kurt Rappaport were all there. That was a great evening!
The next day I did some shopping at Fred Segal, Kiki de Montparnasse and DVF, and got an amazing hair cut by Chris McMillan at his salon. That night I went to Mr Chow in Beverly Hills with Dino Lalvani. He flew in from the electronic convention in Vegas, where he hung out with the Cayres and the Wynns, and went to Marquee. After dinner we met up with Lord Robert Hanson at the Peninsula, and then joined Victoria Harvey to head to Julia Verdin’s party at The Joint. Our last stop was Sur.
On my last day I had a great massage at the spa at the Montage Beverly Hills, then a bite at Fresh East, and then finally take-out from La Scala for my final night’s dinner. I needed a night off! I love LA but I was ready to get back to NYC.
