The world’s largest yacht belongs to Dubai and its size truly matches the grandeur of kings. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the current ruler of Dubai, is the proud papa of the 531-foot megayacht. When its design was commissioned by Prince Jefri Bolkiah of Brunei in 1996, it was originally named Platinum 525. It was not finished until 2001 after a $300 million funding, and was later named the Gold Star by the ruler of the Emirate of Dubai, and the Prime Minister of the UAE, who shared the megayacht. The luxury vessel includes three elevators, a formal dining area, several pools, hot tubs, and sunbathing areas. It also boasts options for water sports activities, a squash room, spa, and is fitted with the a helicopter pad.
