This weekend is one of the hautest days for equestrian lovers as they watch their favorite horses Run for the Roses. If you can’t make it to Churchill Downs, here’s a look at a few local spots in Boston to check out the 142nd Kentucky Derby on Saturday.

1 75 Chestnut

Beacon Hill celebrates the Kentucky Derby in posh style at 75 Chestnut. The race will be broadcast on a large flat screen TV while you don that new beautifully brimmed hat you just bought on Newbury Street from Goorin Bros. and sip on a fashionable mint julep paired up with their full menu that is available all night. We recommend the Nantucket seafood stew, rack of lamb or roasted beef tenderloin au poivre topped with a rich peppercorn brandy cream sauce.

2 Coppersmith

One of the best views of the live Derby Day broadcast is from the massive 12-foot projection screen over at Coppersmith. The massive space will be churning out mint juleps and southern fare, including smoked wings and ribs. Coppersmith is one of the hautest newcomers to the booming South Boston restaurant scene so this party is sure to deliver pomp and circumstance as the world’s top thoroughbreds race for the win.

3 Carrie Nation Restaurant & Cocktail Club

One of the hautest celebrations this year will be held once again over at Carrie Nation to benefit Boston Cares. The fifth annual party features Derby themed cocktails (think Woodford Reserve mint juleps served in copper mugs), a silent auction, hors d’oeuvres and buckets of champagne. It doesn’t get more celebratory than this.

4 Stoddard's Fine Food and Ale

If you are going to serve up mint juleps, you better know whiskey well, and Stoddard's Fine Food and Ale does just that. Here, you can sip on the sweet concoction on Saturday where the food flows from the kitchen as well as the whiskey from the bottles. Try a duo of duck (confit thigh and pan seared breast), pork loin with apple sausage stuffing or smoked game hen.

5 Drink

Head to the subterranean Drink space located in the Fort Point Channel for one of the most celebratory equine events. Best known as a cocktail bar without menus (drinks here are left to the creative imaginations of mixologists who will devise a concoction based on your preferences), Drink is celebrating the day in style. Don your fanciest hat for their seventh annual party being held from 3 to 7 p.m.
