RMS un-coverup goes on so smoothly, feels and looks like skin and yet covers. How is that possible!
It is all about the quality of the ingredients. Cheap ingredients equate cheap product application. Simple as that. Other tricks I will never tell!
What was the inspiration behind the creation of RMS?
After many years in the fashion and make-up industry, I’ve learned a lot about the impact of daily exposure to chemicals in beauty care products. I’ve seen what works and what doesn’t live up to its promises. I see the results of taking a quick-fix approach to looking good. I know first-hand the price our health can pay in the pursuit of beauty. I realized that what women need are skin care, color cosmetics, toiletries that are as pure as possible, lines that create a solid foundation for anti-aging and long-term beauty. Skin is a living organism. It breathes, interacts, and absorbs information from everything it encounters. What better way to have it relevant by also adding the element of modern fashion by formulating not just healthy products but also products with a modern range of colors that work, wearable and user-friendly. My flair of the rebellious,my personal touch, my integrity and my educational aspect of how I brand the line also keeps the interest of many people and gives it that cult feel.
How did you create such perfectly toned pigments? I have trouble with face makeup, they are always too green or too pink. RMS seems to blend perfectly on everyone. I’ve even flawlessly shared my concealer with a much paler/pinker friend!
I use mineral color over synthetic color. Mineral color tends to self adjust to the skin making it easier to color match whereas synthetic color needs to match the skin exactly which usually means a full face application in order to match everywhere.
There are so many overly-made up faces in the media. Do you think natural makeup will become more popular?
Depends how you look at it. I never see people on the street wearing tons of makeup yet there is an internet full of heavy makeup wearers going wild. I know in fashion there is a definite trend in lighter makeup mostly regarding the look of the skin. Do the heavy eyes and lips but never do a heavy base. It looks cheap, terribly cakey and dry.
I know women everywhere are dying to know some VS model makeup tricks. How do you achieve the effortless yet flawless angel look?
The VS girls are natural beauties so it isn’t hard at all! One of the main things is beautifully curled eye-lashes with lots of mascara to really open those eyes up and look sexy. It is also about glowing beautiful skin, which always gives the look of youthful and healthy energy. What can beat that!
How does one perfect the natural makeup look and still cover imperfections?
Lighten up on all application. Remember less is more. Always try to buy makeup with healthier ingredients as that is one of the keys to beautiful application. Traditional cosmetics tend look thick and dry out over time leaving a terribly aged look to the skin. Think smart and healthy with ingredients that nourish the skin rather then synthetic chemicals.
Lastly, your five steps to achieve natural beauty.
It just isn’t about makeup application it is also what you do internally. Super greens such as organic green juices, probiotics to keep the gut in check which in turn keeps the skin in check, fresh pure water, no smoking, no soda pop or sugar and artificial ingredients. avoid process/fast foods and easy on the meat as it is hard to digest and is not exactly anti-aging due to that factor. Don’t forget to exercise and get fresh air. That is what natural beauty is about.
