The soiree, presented by Bovet 1822, benefitted Artists for Peace and Justice, a non-profit organization founded by Paul Haggis and friends in 2009 that encourages peace and social justice, and addresses issues of poverty around the world.  APJ’s immediate goal is to serve children and their families in the poorest communities in Haiti by supporting programs focused on education, healthcare and dignity.

Among the highlights of the evening: Best Supporting Actress frontrunner Patricia Arquette took to the stage and promised that should she win, she would dedicate her Oscar to one of the largest donors for the night. To honor Bovet 1822’s commitment to empowering the youth of Haiti, the charity also announced a new fund for the scholarships of young women and girls entitled BRILLIANT IS BEAUTIFUL at the event.
