Inspired by the shoes worn by men in the Gulf, leather shoe brand Berluti has created a collection of sandals specifically catered to the Middle Eastern man.
Since 1895, Arab Princes and Kings have come through Berluti’s door at 26 rue Marbeuf in search of bespoke shoes and sandals. To mark the opening of its first boutique in Dubai, in 2006 the company launched a line of sandals adapted to the traditions of our Middle Eastern clientele. The brand has now enlarged its offering of sandals for the Middle Eastern market with several new variations.
The Darius Buckle Sandal reintroduces two emblematic details of the house: The Gaspard scarification and the buckle. For the Gaspard stratification present on the shoe uppers, Alessandro Sartori drew his inspiration from Lucio Fontana’s futuristic artwork with the incisions he was known to make on canvas. The buckles present on the sandals are made in antique silver-finish brass and their square shape with rounded angles were developed exclusively for Berluti.
With its contemporary and dynamic design, the new Darius Strap Sandal merges Eastern and Western styles. The shoe uppers are stitched one another through a long leather strap that creates an original piece. This sandal has two versions available: the scritto version with Berluti’s emblematic script for outgoing customers and the plain leather version for discrete customers.
