City Social Named London’s Best Restaurant By Square Meal

City Social, Jason Atherton’s fifth London restaurant which is operated in collaboration with Restaurant Associates, has won the BMW Square Meal Award for Best New Restaurant Autumn 2014.

Situated on the 24th floor of Tower 42, City Social has been received as one of the biggest restaurant openings of 2014 since it launched in May. News of the win will be published in the Autumn issue of Square Meal Lifestyle magazine. It is the third time that one of Atherton’s restaurants has won a BMW Square Meal award: Pollen Street Social was Restaurant of the Year in 2011 and Social Eating House took Best New Restaurant in autumn 2013.  Typing Room in Bethnal Green – Atherton’s other London restaurant launch of 2014 – was also on the BMW best new restaurant shortlist, along with The PalomarFera and Kurobuta.

City Social has received acclaim across the board in the 2015 restaurant guides published to date. This latest accolade follows the announcement on Haute Time last week that City Social has been awarded a coveted Michelin star in the 2015 Michelin Guide to Great Britain and Ireland. The AA Restaurant Guide 2015 describes the food at City Social as “inventive, detailed and bursting with entertaining combinations of taste and texture”, while The Waitrose Good Food Guide 2015 awarded the restaurant a cooking score of six.
