EVERYTHING BUT WATER

Everything But Water, as its name implies, carries everything but, well, water. This is a one-stop shop for everything related to swimwear, from actual suits, to hats, to surfwear.  It is the largest specialty swimwear and resortwear retailer in the U.S., and the brand has, thankfully, opened a haute new location across from the chic Brentwood Country Mart in Santa Monica.

The 1,200 square foot store is a mix of refined urbanity and modern beach chic, with raw concrete floors and white oak slatted walls reminiscent of tropical shutters. Whimsical clusters of frosted globes echo beach glass, white rolling racks display colorful looks and the furniture’s raw-‐metal accents would be at home in a downtown LA loft. The luxe fitting room area is a nod to beach cabanas and provides a comfortable spot for customers to find their perfect suit.

The location, which opened in April, offers resortwear and accessories carefully curated and coveted brands including Camilla, Clover Canyon, Eberjey, Heidi Klein, Jets, Karla Colletto, L*Space, Lisa Marie Fernandez, Letarte, Mara Hoffman, Matta, Melissa Odabash, Michael Michael Kors, Missoni, Nanette Lepore, Trina Turk, Vitamin A and Vix.

Ask a specialist to help you find your specific suit style: the knowledgeable staff is more than happy to do the hard work for you.

SWIMSPOT

What we love about SwimSpot – a pop-up shop in the tony Santa Monica Place shopping center – is that its swim specialists understand the pain of swimsuit shopping for most, and thus, try to make the experience more palatable by cherry-picking suits that suit, so to speak, each body shape and size. This begins online, with the Fit Specialist program. You can start the (sometimes painful) shopping process in private by selecting one of six silhouettes that best represents your body shape. SwimSpot can then provide individualized style suggestions, offering you the opportunity to shop looks that flatter their body type and personal style.

Along with the ability to shop by body type, and narrow selections by brand, style, trend, color, size and price, SwimSpot.com also offers a digital Bikini Builder where shoppers can select tops and bottoms separately, mix-and-match or even purposely mismatch, putting the power in the hands of fashionistas everywhere.  Most women also like to see objectively how a swimsuit fits and moves, so when shoppers roll their mouse over a product on SwimSpot, they can see a short video of each swimsuit modeled from both the front and back.

The brands carried her are pure SoCal: think surfer girl chic brands like Athena, Ella Moss, Guess, Hurley, LUXE by Lisa Vogel, Nautica, Next, Reef and Splendid, along with flip flops from Havaianas and suncare products from Coola and Maui Babe.
