Rare Guitar Played by John Lennon & George Harrison Sells for $408K at NYC Auction

A custom-made Vox guitar played by John Lennon and George Harrison sold for an astounding $408,000 at a New York auction on Saturday. The rare instrument was built for Lennon in 1966 and used during the Beatles’ “Magical Mystery Tour” period.

According to a statement from Julien’s Auctions, Harrison played the guitar while practicing “I Am The Walrus,” and Lennon used it in a video session for the song “Hello, Goodbye.”

The name of the buyer has not been disclosed.
