An impressive gourmet presentation can be an art form.
You’ll find that a duality between the worlds of art and food when ForYourArt presents its one-day foodie extravaganza New.Artisanal.Now. on July 28th.
The event has been timed to coincide with Made in L.A. 2012, the Hammer Museum’s first large-scale biennial survey of LA-based artists.
Culinary insiders Krista Simmons of Top Chef Masters, Shawna Dawson of Artisanal LA and Michaele Musel of The Secret Fork will showcase some of LA’s finest food crafters from caramels and olives to ice cream.
Simmons said of her choices: “I wanted to select producers who embody what it means to be an independent, entrepreneurial, creative spirit. Food crafters like Edward Belden of Peddler’s Creamery, whose ice creams are churned on the back of his beach cruiser, and boutique shrub-maker Susan Finesman, who applies age-old, colonial preservation techniques to farm-fresh produce, really showcase that. Aside from the deliciousness of it all, these products are incredibly beautiful from an aesthetic standpoint. This will be a real showcase of food porn, that’s for sure.”
