Live Like A VIP: Four Recommendations From The Lifestyle Consultants At VIP-LA

VIP-LA gives Haute Living inside access to the most luxurious happenings in LA. Check out their recommendations for this week.

EAT: Urasaw, Bevery Hills

Known to be the smallest, and most expensive restaurant in Los Angeles, Urasawa is worth every penny!

This tiny, luxurious sushi bar in Beverly Hills is both uber-exclusive and uber-expensive. The “Two-Star” Michelinrated, “Top” Zagat rated omakase experience is a destination for sophisticated sushi lovers from around the world. See other reviews HERE. Famously the most expensive restaurant in California, Urasawa’s fresh fish selection is unmatched anywhere else in the country. If a particular leaf or species of clam is in its Japanese two-week season, it will certainly be on your plate. Waitresses refill your glass with sake, replace hot towels and remove plates so efficiently that you are barely aware of them at all. And Master Sushi Chef, Hiro Urasawa’s artistry with a fillet is surpassed in the United States only by that of his mentor, Masa Takayama.

This is a once in a lifetime epicurean experience for most. With required appointments/reservations, an initial discovery conversation to determine likes/dislikes/food allergies/etc., a multi-hour, 9 course dining experience and a bill of several hundred dollars per person, Urasawa is not your local sushi spot. Sorry, you won’t see Sake-Bombs and California Rolls on this menu.

TASTE: The Taste LA, Beverly Hills, Hollywood, Downtown LA

A four day culinary spectacular, The Taste features celebrity chefs, food, drinks and wines from the best of the best in LA.

From Rodeo Drive to The Studios at Paramount to Downtown L.A., Los Angeles Times and Food & Wine’s ‘The Taste’ is a four-day food and wine extravaganza celebrating all things epicurean. This unprecedented event will showcase a star-studded cast of celebrity chefs including Susan Feniger, Duff Goldman and Aida Mollenkamp at nine signature events over Labor Day weekend. Event tickets are all-inclusive and offer everything from unlimited tastings of delectable chef creations from 40 of L.A.’s best restaurants plus unlimited tastings from some of the top wineries, breweries and distilleries, to amazing demos by celebrity chefs, live musical entertainment, fascinating panel discussions and much more.

Tickets to this epic epicurean event start at $125 per person. But use the code “Family” to receive a 40% discount or go to Daily Candy to redeem their great deal of the week.

Starve yourself until this weekend so you can be ready to feast on some of the best food and drinks LA has to offer!

DRINK: Perch, Downtown LA

Grab a bite and a drink on your new perch, high above Downtown LA, and watch the sun set over the city.

You only have to travel 15 stories above ground to experience LA’s vulnerability—its skyline–and to eat perfect beignets. At Perch, you’ll feel as though you’re in the suburbs due to the sheer vertical leverage you have on the passersby far below. No line, no list, this is the spot to take your visiting mom for brunch, to take a date for a sunset drink, or maybe just take yourself because that’s all you can afford.

The French bistro (see menu HERE) occupies the top three stories of the Pershing Square Building, boasting 360-degree views on each floor. Lounging, bar sitting, or table sitting among various fire pits are all options. “What we want to do up there is take French food and bastardize it the same way we did with taking white trash food for The Must and making it nice,” say owners Rachel Thomas and Coly Den Haan (previously of wine bar The Must) when describing the French flared menu. Think caricatures of French fare and décor and silly-breathtaking views and you’ve got Perch.

Enjoy your view from the top…Literally.
