Elizabeth Taylor Jewelry Collection to Arrive in Moscow

Jewels, dresses, art pieces and other memorabilia that belonged to the legendary actress Elizabeth Taylor who died in March this year will be presented by the Christie’s at a pre-auction exhibition in Moscow in autumn.

Details of the exposition, as well as estimates of the jewelry items put up for the auction have not been disclosed yet, however one can expect true gems – in 2006 Elizabeth Taylor conveyed exclusive rights for sale of her things to Christie’s, having expressed a hope then that they would not pass to other owners soon.

Apart from Moscow the exhibition will be displayed in London, Los Angeles, Dubai, Geneva, Paris and Hong Kong. The last stop will be in New York where the collection will be put up for sale in December. Part of the takings will be allocated to the anti-AIDS foundation set up by the actress.

Elizabeth Taylor was known not only for her outstanding roles in Hollywood films, but also for being passionate about diamonds and she published a book in 2003 entitled Elizabeth Taylor: My Love Affair with Jewelry. Cristie’s representatives say: “From the elegant simplicity of white diamonds, to her most elaborate custom-designed jewels, Elizabeth Taylor’s collection reveals in sparkling detail her celebrated love affair with jewelry. Culled with expertise and passion over a lifetime, this expansive and thoroughly stunning assemblage of jewelry from the top design houses demonstrates Elizabeth Taylor’s studied appreciation for both the allure and the art of jewelry design.”
