Haute Spot: Sense Spa at The Carlyle

My home away from home in New York is The Carlyle. As a rule, I can be found holding court in the corner of Bemelmans; I love the ambiance, its chic, and lovely in its candlelit splendour, canvased in the golden hues of Ludwig Bemelmans peintures, reminiscent of my childhood, a variance of Madeline and her adventures. Arriving at Bemelmans, I always feel my best, as I’ve just spent the afternoon in the luxurious haven of the Sense Spa. As I sit in the chair, espresso in hand, I am immediately transported to my days in Paris, all that is missing is a cigarette!

Before a rendezvous for cocktails with a friend, if hair is not the order of the day, I will then opt for a hot stone massage to melt away my tense muscles, and then perhaps a facial. Antonia has been my facialist for over ten years, I follow her wherever she goes, as she is the Guru for my skin, and my little secret for looking radiant and youthful.

I arrive with some minutes to spare so that I may decompress in the steam, have a cup of green tea, and unwind. Antonia appears, ushers me down a gorgeous tiled staircase and lures me into my facial. Using exclusively Sisley skincare, she works her magic, a gentle touch which is just the remedy for my tired skin; I emerge, relaxed and rejuvenated, primped for my cocktail which awaits me en bas at Bemelmans, the question is, when can I move in?
