New Year’s Eve Nosh: Prego’s NYE Celebration

If you’re still stumped on where to spend the end of 2010, heading to one of Orange County’s most beloved Italian eateries might just solve your dilemma. Prego Ristoranti is hosting a New Year’s Eve party that’ll have you sampling some of their best food before you ring in 2011.

Executive chef Ugo Allesina is serving up a four-course prix-fixe menu to celebrate the end of 2010. So if you’re over crowds and big productions, head to Prego, where in addition to the food you can enjoy live music from Orange County locals the Brazen Blues and still toast the start of 2011 with a glass of bubbly.

Allesina’s menu includes carpaccio formentera, an ahi tuna sliced thin with peppers and blood orange vinaigrette. Next is flat ribbons of pasta with lobster and shrimp sauce and the choice of Rombo alla Genovese, beef served with prawns and green peppercorns, Filetto e Crostacei, baked halibut with pesto and garlic sauce or Controfiletto di Manzo Arrosto, a prime rib served with roasted garlic potato puree. Dessert is canestro di mele, a pastry filled with custard, apples and vanilla ice cream.

Reservations for New Year’s Eve dinner are recommended, and included with the meal is a champagne toast at midnight (and plenty of dancing to the sounds of the Brazen Blues), so you can be sure that there will be no lack of festivity.

So if you’re skipping the parties or just lost for ideas, Prego’s got you covered.
