Haute 100 Miami Update: Ella Fontanals-Cisneros

Our Haute 100 list details the accomplishments of the most influential people in each of our markets—Miami, New York, Los Angeles, and San Francisco. These people continue to make moves, so rather than waiting for the next Haute 100 issue to come out, we thought we’d provide you with regular updates on those Haute 100 members who are making headlines. This December Ella Fontanals-Cisneros didn’t disappoint at the CIFO photography exhibit.

Ella Fontanals-Cisneros

Category: Thinkers

Company: Cisneros Fontanals Art Foundation

Industry: Art

What Made Her Haute: She began collecting Latin American art in the 1970s, and founded CFAF in 2002 with the goal of fostering understanding and appreciation of contemporary artists from Latin America through grants, commissions, exhibitions, and bilingual publications. She is a trustee of MAM, Patrons of the Tate, the Cintas Foundation, the United States Artist, and the International Women’s Forum, and is an active humanitarian and environmentalist.

What Makes Her Haute Now: At this year’s CIFO exhibit titled Inside Out: Photography After Form, Fontanals-Cisneros kept the standards high with curators Simon Baker and Tanya Barson from the Tate Modern in London. Even with Photo Miami opting out of participation in the exhibit, Fontanals-Cisneros pulled off a first class event that included 80 photos from her personal international collection.
