Woman: “You’re all wet!,” James Bond: “But my martini’s still dry.” Never Say Never Again

Martini’s may be associated with New York but without London this cocktail would be without a catchphrase or two. Thanks to our very own James Bond, the author that penned him, and the bar where he drank, the classic Martini’s iconic slogan is perhaps one of modern culture’s most famous.

And yet for those who want their Martinis made, shaken, and stirred to perfection in The Big Smoke, London’s cocktail offerings often stretch little further than Pimms and a Bloody Mary. On swarve occasions like this it’s best to hit the hotel bars. In search of only the best martinis in London, Marie Teather does just that.

Home of the classic dry martini and thanks to Ian Fleming (author of the Bond series) who was a regular to Duke’s Bar, it’s also where James Bond’s phrase “shaken not stirred” originates. The sophisticated bar offers an extensive selection of Martinis, which according to the New York Times are some of the world’s best.
