Our Haute 100 list details the accomplishments of the most influential people in each of our markets—Miami, New York, Los Angeles, and San Francisco. These people continue to make moves, so rather than waiting for the next Haute 100 issue to come out, we thought we’d provide you with regular updates on those Haute 100 members who are making headlines. On our Haute 100 New York list is Jack Welch, the entrepreneur whose expert opinion on finance and business continues to make him a standout professional.
Company: Jack Welch, LLC
Industry: Media & Finance
What Makes Him Haute: This award-winning syndicated writer and special partner of private equity firm Clayton, Dubilier & Rice was named “Manager of the Century” by Fortune in 2000 due to his tenure at General Electric. This year, he spent three months in the hospital battling discitis, and his prognosis was so bad doctors didn’t think he would make it, but he persevered.
What Makes Him Haute Now: Welch, who is described as a legendary business icon, will speak at the 2011 Master Program in association with the National Business Travel Association and Amadeus. The two companies, who formed a partnership, deal with resources for professional networking, resources, and technology solutions. Welch is the first addition in the transformation of the company and will aid in turning the program into a “global-thought leadership forum for C-level and senior executives,” according to hospitality.net.
Welch also recently invested $2 million into the Jack Welch Management Institute, an online MBA program launched this year at Chancellor University.
