Todd English P.U.B. Serves Up English Pub Fare and Great Beers

Celebrity chef Todd English has a long history in Las Vegas. His restaurant Olives has been a staple at Bellagio; He opened Beso with our own Haute Living cover model, Eva Longoria Parker at Crystals at CityCenter in December; and now the three-time James Beard Award-winning chef has a new outpost, Todd English P.U.B. (Public Urban Bar) inside Crystals at CityCenter just in time to watch the NCAA tournament.

This is the type of place where locals love to down a beer, get competitive with some bar games, and chow down on English pub fare. Behind the bar are more than 50 international bottle, keg, and cask beers, including rare finds such as Van Diest Fruli Strawberry, Rogue Chocolate Stout, and Strongbow Cider.

For food, look to the Carvery, a selection of rotisserie-cooked meats such as prime beef, roasted chicken or duck, brisket, Greek leg of lamb, and more served by the half- or full-pound. You can create a “deconstructed” sandwich by selecting breads ranging from sourdough and thick-cut rye to grilled pita and challah. Then flavor it with sauces like pineapple mint jelly, horseradish sour cream, and black truffle mayo.

Upon entry, the raw bar beckons, brimming with oysters spanning both coasts, along with little necks, shrimp, lobster, and stone crab claws. Order them individually for an assortment of tastes or in batches.

The open-view show kitchen features pub fare such as bangers and mash, New England fish and chips, and Grichebecktom (the workman’s cheese sandwich with creamy brie cheese and double-smoked bacon). Fries come in varieties such as skinnies, fatties, and sweeties (sweet potato fries) topped with fried pickles. Go for appetizers such as grilled soft pretzels, dirty chips (kettle chips with bacon bits, scallions, blue cheese dressing and fried chicken livers) and cured salmon with potato pancakes and more.

If you can down a draft of beer in seven seconds, timed with hourglasses, the pint is on the house. Magnetic dartboards and beer pong tables round out the pub games you can play.
