While San Francisco’s luxury high rise tower in Rincon Hill is no novice to the headlines, this past weekend earned the edifice quite a few compliments from discerning eyes in architecture and design.
At 590 feet, One Rincon Hill, which sits perched atop the summit, is smaller in stature than its 645-foot neighbor Millennium Tower in the Financial District, but still stands tall and proud. According to the San Francisco Chronicle, the first completed tower of the multi-tower project was chosen as one of the world’s 28 best new high-rises by the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat.
On Saturday, September 19, curious design buffs were presented with the opportunity to take a peek and critique the interiors of four luxury residences within One Rincon Hill. The San Francisco Design Center hosted the first weekend of the decorators’ showcase this weekend, inviting four design firms to try their hand at outfitting a residence. Eugene Anthony and Associates; Labexperiment; Donald Joseph Inc., from Sacramento; and Carver+Schicketanz from Carmel were the selected firms who were instructed to create a dream space based on a designated demographic. The innovative and elegant designs received nods from all around and the jaw-dropping views has kept the town talking.
This season’s theme for the decorators’ showcase is “Design Above All,” and it is intended to be a bit of a break from the traditional architecture normally featured, which often include traditional San Francisco styles. With “Design Above All,” the San Francisco Design Center aims to take guests on a high-rise tour of life as viewed and lived above the city.
San Francisco Design Center’s Decorators’ Showcase runs through November 1, 2009 and is open to the public for touring on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11 a.m. through 3:00 p.m., as well as on Saturdays from 11 to 5. Ticket are $20.00 and can be purchased here.
