A summertime standard, The Hampton’s Designer Showhouse opens July 19th, in its 8th year to spotlight the best in interior design in a dream-like setting. As proceeds benefit the Southhampton Hospital; this fantasy home gives back in grand style.

This larger-than-life sized doll house of design, features the work of about 25 A-list interior designers, landscape architects and decorative artists including Bob Bakes, Christopher Maya, Douglas Graneto, Penelope Irwin, Jennifer Flanders, Kate Singer and Lily Pulitzer.

The 2008 incarnation of the showhouse is a shingle style mansion donated by Richard Cherardi and William Landberg of Sand Dollar Development Corp. This elegant, newly constructed 7,500-square-foot six bedroom, six and a half bathroom home rests on 1.4 acres of lush greenery.

A first look can be had at the gala preview cocktail party on Saturday, July 19th and the house will remain open from July 19th to August 31st, Grand Prix day at the Hampton Classic. Each year over 1,000 guests flock to the blockbuster event where the doors to the dream house are first opened.

The striking Showhouse Journal, a print collection of the dazzling designs displayed at the house, put together by Kay Gilman of Hemming+Gilman Productions is included in the price of admission over the six weeks.

Perennial contributor, Gary Crain is the Interior Design Chairman for 2008 and is known for his work on East Hampton’s Maidstone Club and New York’s Downtown Association. He has six Kips Bay Show houses and five Roger’s Memorial Library Showhouses to his name, as well.
