With over two decades of professional experience, Liz Lam is an expert in the pharmaceutical industry. Specializing in business administration, she founded DermaGym LLC, an anti-aging spa in Miami, in 2016. As the founder of the business, she is responsible for growing the brand and developing further business opportunities. Ms. Lam and the business have worked with several luxury hotels in Miami Beach, including Nobu Hotel and Eden Roc, where they served as its resident medical spa in 2020, hosting monthly Botox and bubble events.

Here, she talks with Haute Beauty all about DermaGym and where she sees the future of her field going.

Was there a personal and/or professional experience that inspired you to open your practice?

As a former Pharmaceutical Executive, I’ve had the privilege to gain access to many top-tier dermatologists and doctors who specialize in cutting-edge aesthetics from a fairly early age and over the last twenty years. I was thirty when I first experienced Botox, and just a few years later, I was introduced to fillers. I had an astute understanding of the technologies behind the brands. With trial and error, as an end-user of these very products and services, I can unabashedly provide my first-hand expertise about what works and what is simply “market hype.” After big money spent, I was first in line to try everything that was new to the market. This insider insight has led my quest to bring the best services to market. Thus was birthed DermaGym Anti-Aging Spa, established in 2016.

What was your mission at the start of opening your practice? Has it changed?

DermaGym’s mission is to bridge the gap between conventional high-end Luxury Hotel services and scientifically proven medical results. We offer the same services that are typically only found in renowned plastic surgeons’ offices and at top dermatologists’ offices, and rarely are they all under the same roof.

If you had to pick three words to describe the vibe of your practice, what would they be and why?

In three words, our vibe is: Urban – Chic – Luxury. DermaGym is nestled in Miami’s trendy Upper East Side, aka MiMo, right off of the famous Biscayne Blvd at 79th. Our office building, known as The Loft, offers ample free parking for guests, and we even have a private exit so that guests can leave discreetly post-procedure.

 

How did you come up with the name of your practice?

DermaGym - Just tell ‘em you’re at the gym! Like a high-end gym, we offer some of the world’s most cutting-edge equipment for improving your skin’s health. We wanted our brand to embody both Skincare and Wellness, and thus our mantra is #ExerciseYourConfidence. Our vibe is Hotel-inspired service, Derm-based results.

What are the most popular services requested?

Three of our most popular treatments are Micro-needling, Body Contouring, and Facial Rejuvenation:

  • Micro-needling cocktails can be paired with Peels, PRP, or Exosomes
  • Expert body contouring treatments include modalities for fat reduction, cellulite smoothing, and EMS muscle growth.
  • Facial Rejuvenation / Fractional Skin Resurfacing provides non-surgical skin tightening and laxity and can also treat acne scars and even skin tone.

What is the future of your field? 

I foresee a future in which aesthetic services are increasingly unisex, and spas are more inclusive. We are not the typical spa that only caters to women exclusively, but rather DermaGym aims to be the pioneer in Men‘s aesthetics by offering equally as many options for our male clientele.

What are you best known for? 

We are known for our exceptionally high-quality services, whether brand or our signature DermaGym line, which can be embraced by all ages and for all budgets. That is why we have created our own line of skincare products and medical devices so that our clients can access all the innovative beauty technologies without exclusion.

What is unique about your practice?

Unlike many practices that parrot the same product lines, which have grown increasingly oversaturated, unoriginal, and ultimately a disservice to clients in my opinion, DermaGym instead offers a hand-selected vetted line of products that we have seen work better than the mass-produced alternatives.
