Haute Beauty sits down with Dr. Parbhu to learn more about tear trough filler, an injectable to combat the visible signs of aging around the eyes. Using Tear trough filler Dr. Parbhu is able to give the face an overall more awake and refreshed look.

HB: What is Tear Trough Filler and how does it work?
Dermal filler is placed into the hollows under the eyes to help smooth the contour.
HB: Who is a good candidate for Tear Trough Filler?
Patients that have hollows under the eyes or just a small amount of fat prolapse.
HB: How do you work with patients to achieve the desired outcome?
I like to discuss the goals of the patient in improving their lower eyelid appearance especially when patients can be either surgical or filler candidates. We discuss filler choices as well as needle versus cannula for injection techniques.
HB: Does this require more than one treatment?
Maintenance is required. Under the eyes, filler typically lasts 12 months. Most patients come at 6 -9 months for half the amount of filler to be placed to help maintain their results.
HB: Are results permanent?
No

HB: What is recovery like?
Some patients do not bruise and have no downtime in this regard but many patients do have some swelling and bruising. This can be possible even with use of cannula. I recommend patients avoid any medications or supplements that thin the blood before their treatment. Arnica and bromelain supplements starting two days prior to treatments and continuing for the subsequent five days may help decrease swelling and bruising.
